Abstract
In this research, Cu-doped TiO2 nanocomposite was synthesized by using a homogeneous co-precipitation technique. Urea applied as a hydrolyzing agent. The Synthesized nanocomposite was characterized by using UV-Vis Spectroscopy and SEM. The prepared nanocomposite indicates its potential application as a visible light induced photocatalyst. The photocatalytic performance of the nanocomposite was confirmed by fluorescence study of degrading Safranin O dye under UV–Vis irradiation. It was found that the largely increased efficiency of photocatalytic aspect of Cu-doped TiO2 nanoparticles in comparison with the pure TiO2 nanoparticles. The improvement in photocatalytic performance can be attributed to the enhanced light adsorption in UV–Vis range and the decrease of the recombination rate of photoinduced electron–hole pair of the Cu-doped TiO2 nanoparticles.
